Parable of the Good Shepherd
Jesus often taught in parables... stories that invite us to wonder more deeply.
In the Parable of the Good Shepherd, we hear about a shepherd who knows each sheep by name, leads them to places of safety and abundance, and cares for them with unwavering love. When a sheep becomes lost, the shepherd leaves the others to search until it is found, rejoicing when it is brought home again.
As the story unfolds, we encounter the Good Shepherd, the sheepfold, the dangerous places, and the paths that lead to life. Through these images, we are invited to wonder about belonging, being known, and the love that seeks us even when we feel lost or alone.
Following the story, there is time for wondering, open-ended questions that invite children and adults alike to reflect, make meaning, and discover where they may find themselves in the story. There are no right or wrong answers, only space to listen, wonder, and grow.
